Job Description

Policy and Government Relations Advisor


  • Work with the Senior Policy and Government Relations Advisor (East Africa) to design and implement engagement plans on assigned policy areas with key political and policy stakeholders, effectively aligning this work with the Organisation’s overall strategy.
  • Raise awareness of the Organisation with key influencers, creating ‘ambassadors’ for the organisation amongst political and policy-making stakeholders.
  • Represent the Organisation externally including at roundtables, policy conferences and industry events.
  • Work with in-house subject and research experts to support the development of an evidence base for assigned public policy and influencing activities.
  • Develop a range of influencing material including reports, papers, briefings, speaking notes, presentations and updates to support the Organisation’s influencing.
  • Deliver a robust Policy and Government Relations monitoring service of key political and policy developments affecting the Organisation in your assigned areas.

The Successful Applicant

Policy and Government Relations Advisor


  • Experience on managing, implementing and evaluating proactive political engagement campaigns, including policy development
  • Experience of working with MPs, Ministers, and civil servants
  • Working with senior leaders and managers to provide measured advice
  • Event management experience
  • Knowledge of policy issues related to skills, training and employment
