Current Rail Lines – Khartoum Video
Khartoum Current Rail Line , Overview
Khartoum is a major hub on Sudan’s main railway network, primarily served by the line connecting it to Port Sudan on the Red Sea via Atbara, carrying most of Sudan’s rail traffic, plus lines extending south to El Obeid and west towards Nyala, though operations have been severely impacted by the ongoing conflict. While some services resumed in late 2024 (like Port Sudan-Atbara), the network faces significant disruptions and neglect, with efforts focused on rehabilitation, as of late 2025.
The current rail line also bypass Bahri and central Khartoum major stations a very popular travel destination, currently there is no rail transit for dwellers or Khartoum surrounding regions.
Sudan Railways, operated by the government-owned Sudan Railways Corporation (SRC), has the third-largest rail network in Africa, with close to 6,000 km of single-line track operating nationally across the country.
